WinterWonderLand

To any who don't know where Lewistown is, it's in the heart of Pennsylvania.  It's a fairly small town, or borough, with the population of a little over 8 thousand.  However, if you include all the surrounding area making up Mifflin Co, it's more like 46 thousand.  We get all four seasons here and right now winter is raging it's ugly head.  And yes, I'm about to mention that nasty little four letter word...SNOW.  There I said it and I'll say it again...snow, snow and more snow.  To all you would be deserters of Lewistown, (and I think you know who I mean, and if you're in doubt as to whether you are one of them...then you probably are) I say come back here and take this weather like the rest of us.  But alas, I know you are not coming...so I shall remind you of what winter is like. And if you are one of those rare people who have never experienced winter...I shall try and help you experience it in your minds eye.   First, there's the quiet beauty of the softly falling flakes, which magically turn even the simplest sights into something rare and beautiful.  As if being covered with a fluffy soft white blanket. I must mention too that snow can be fun to play in.  You can sled, ski, build snowmen and have snowball fights.  As long as the snow keeps coming beauty prevails, ah...but then the snow stops.  And beauty, which was way too short lived, is replaced with sloppy wet messy snirt.  In case, you haven't ever heard of snirt, it's dirty snow.  And it ain't pretty.  Well that's winter in Lewistown.  I'll leave you with some pictures of Paul and I sledding with Izzy.  Till we meet again!  Toni
